What is a Digital Champion?

Digital champions are people who help others go online safely and successfully if they want to. You don't need to be an IT whizz to be a Digital Champion - you just need a bit of time and enthusiasm to support others to experience the many benefits of the internet and digital technology.

As a Digital Champion you'll be able to support others to learn the basics of computers and the internet in a relaxed, informal way. You'll be able to offer advice information, and support to people who want to get online, learn how to use a computer for the first time or improve their confidence with the basics.

Digital Champions work with learners remotely, on a one-to-one basis or in a small group. You can be a Digital Champion as part of your working role and/or something you do in your day-to-day life and/or as a volunteer.

How do Digital Champions access resources & support?

Digital Champions have access to a training place on the Digital Unite Digital Champions training platform. Digital Unite is one of the UK's leading providers of digital skills learning, which is offered through their Digital Champions Network, a web-based learning platform that trains, supports and provides resources for Digital Champions and digital inclusion projects.

Digital Champions meet through a monthly Champions Chat, an informal network meeting to bring together experience of the Digital Champions training and hear from key speakers alongside the chance to meet other Digital Champions and share best practice.
