Later Life Community

Later Life Community is a new service dedicated to supporting people aged 65+ across Suffolk.  

Later Life Community Connect – a single point of access telephone support service, open 7 days a week between 10am – 2pm with a real person to chat to.

Later Life Community Online – a partnership project with Realise Futures to support people aged  55+ with learning digital skills on a tablet, through face to face courses across the county.

Later Life Community Engage – the newest project in the Later Life Community family and is focused on supporting individuals in the community in which they live or feel connected to.  Focused initially in East Suffolk, this work is partnership project with Suffolk County Council, East Suffolk Council & Suffolk Family Carers.

Frequently Asked Questions 

Will the service cost me anything?  

There is no charge for the service.  Clients may donate, if they wish.


Do you need to just be over 65+ or are there other criteria I need to meet?   

There are no criteria other than being an older person in need of help or support.  


What type of things can you help me with?  

We can help with putting people in touch with statutory and voluntary services.  We have helped with finding domestic or gardening help, community transport, disability equipment, benefit claims support, blue badge applications, advocacy, befriending services, social activities. We can also access general information on subjects relating to living well in later life.    *


Is the service confidential? 

Yes, absolutely.


Can we just speak over the phone or do I need to meet in person? 

Our service is delivered over the telephone.   We can follow up any work we have done for you in writing, if that helps.


Do you pass on my details to other organisations, or do you need my permission?  

We do not share your information with anyone unless you ask us to or  unless we feel, or you tell us, that you are being abused in any way.


Can I just ring up for a chat if I need some general information or help with something? 



How many times can I use the service? 

As many times as you need to.


What days and times is the service available? 

Every day.  Monday to Sunday 10:00am to 2:00pm
